AGREEMENT & NON-AGREEMENT STATES

Who regulates my radiation equipment?

In the US, there are agreement and non-agreement states.

If you are in an Agreement state, your radiation equipment is regulated by your state government.

If you are in a non-agreement state, your radiation equipment is regulated by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Agreement states have variations in regulations based on your local state government. These regulations can be numerous, strict and continually change. Fines and violations can be issued if regulations are not met. Most states have routine inspection cycles where violations may be issued if any of the regulations are not met.
